What a 96% AFUE furnace means for your install
A 96% AFUE furnace is a condensing furnace. It vents through PVC pipe and needs a condensate drain, so plan for both if you're replacing an 80% unit that used a metal flue. The ML196 and EL196 are single-stage, and the ML296 is two-stage, with a low stage for milder days. To compare efficiency levels, see Lennox 93%, 95%, and 97% AFUE furnaces. Match the cabinet width to your evaporator coil.
