Why two stages
A two-stage furnace runs on a low stage most of the time and steps up to full heat on the coldest days, which gives you longer, steadier cycles than a single-stage unit. Pick 80% AFUE (EL280, SL280) if you're keeping a metal flue, or 96% to 97.5% AFUE (ML296, EL297, SL297) if you can vent with PVC and drain condensate. Want simpler controls?
